Last year, Bono (of the great band U2) addressed politicians and faith leaders and the National Prayer Breakfast in D.C. This book is a transcript of that speech with added photos of the trip Bono took to Africa back in 1986.
If you are not aware, Bono is one of the main voices championing the church and the government to reach out physically and monetarily to help with the poverty and AIDS crisis in the continent of Africa. He has determined to use his rock star status for the good of the poor and helpless. He has founded DATA, a non-profit organization with aims to raise awareness about, and spark response to the crises swamping Africa: unpayable Debts, uncontrolled spread of AIDS, and unfair Trade rules which keep Africans poor. He is also part of the ONE campaign, which derives its name from the belief that allocating an additional one percent of the U.S. budget toward providing basic needs like health, education, clean water and food would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the world's poorest countries. We also call for debt cancellation, trade reform and anti–corruption measures in a comprehensive package to help Africa and the poorest nations beat AIDS and extreme poverty.
This book is his plea for the church to continue the aid she is giving to those widows and orphans and sick in Africa. On the move will inspire you to move in the direction of God's heart for the poor.
